O jogo conta a história de uma confederação futurista protegida por um bando de mercenários de elite: Dead Echo. Quando Dead Echo membros Grayson Hunt e Isi Sato saber que eles estão trabalhando para o lado errado, eles são traídos por seu comandante e exilado até os confins da galáxia. Em Bulletstorm, Grayson e Isi se encontram cercados por hordas de mutantes e gangues comer carne em um paraíso abandonado. Eles têm dois objectivos: saia do planeta vivo, e se vingar do homem que os enviou para lá.
Os jogadores assumem o papel de Grayson Hunt completo com um arsenal de movimentos de combate over-the-top e armas escandalosamente grande. matriz Bulletstorm de distintas "skillshots" produz níveis sem precedentes de jogabilidade frenética e gritar de indução satisfação. O sistema skillshot premia os jogadores por incitar o caos da forma mais criativa possível. O mais insano do skillshot, os jogadores mais pontos de coleta para atualizar seu caráter e destravar as armas, que depois lhes permite executar até mesmo movimentos mais criativos e skillshots exagerado.
